Parent & Spectator Expectations at Athletic Events
As supporters of The Christ School Lions, we ask that all parents and spectators model Christlike character and sportsmanship at every athletic event, home or away.
- Honor Christ First
- Remember that we represent Christ in all that we do, including how we cheer.
- Exhibit kindness, patience, and respect at all times.
- Encourage, Don’t Discourage
- Cheer enthusiastically for our athletes, but never against the opposing team.
- Keep comments positive, uplifting, and focused on encouragement.
- Respect Officials and Coaches
- Trust that referees and umpires are doing their best.
- Allow coaches to coach, players to play, and officials to officiate. Do not interfere with or attempt to direct coaches or players during games or practices.
- Be a Role Model for Our Students
- Demonstrate good sportsmanship that athletes can imitate.
- Refrain from yelling at players, coaches, or officials.
- Support All Athletes
- Celebrate effort, improvement, and teamwork—not just the score.
- Encourage every player on the team, not only your own child.
- Create a Family-Friendly Atmosphere
- Use language and behavior appropriate for children.
- Show courtesy to fellow spectators, both home and away.
- Win with Humility, Lose with Grace
- Celebrate victories with gratitude and humility.
- Accept defeat with respect, dignity, and encouragement for future growth.
- Pray for Our Teams
- Support our athletes, coaches, and opponents through prayer for safety, integrity, and Christlike witness.
