The Christ School (TCS) provides students and faculty access to current and emerging technologies to enhance educational excellence through innovative and collaborative learning. Responsible and appropriate technology use is essential to maximize these benefits and requires partnership among the school, parents, and students.
School-Owned iPad
Students in grades 4-5 will be issued a school-owned, school-managed device for educational use. Students and parents must read, understand, and sign this policy before the device is issued and used.
The iPad is configured and maintained by TCS for academic purposes, and the school determines approved software, settings, security controls, and management tools.
General Guidelines
- Students must use the assigned iPad device provided by TCS.
- The device must be brought to school each day fully charged.
- The device remains the property of TCS and is issued for school use only.
- Families are responsible for reviewing and understanding this policy.
Device Care and Use
Students are expected to care for the iPad, charger, and any related accessories. Loss, damage, theft, or misuse may result in repair or replacement charges as determined by the school.
The device is to be used for academic purposes during school hours and for any school-approved work outside the classroom. Students may not use the device for gaming, social media, streaming, music, or other non-academic activities unless specifically approved by a teacher for instructional purposes.
While we understand that accidents happen, families are financially responsible for costs associated with negligence, intentional damage, loss, or theft. Intentional misuse will result in disciplinary action and financial responsibility for any repair or replacement costs.
Student Responsibilities
- Bring the iPad fully charged every day.
- Keep the device visible and in approved use areas.
- Use only assigned TCS accounts and the school-managed network when on campus.
- Protect the device from loss, damage, or unauthorized use.
- Do not remove labels, attempt repairs, alter settings, install unauthorized software, or bypass management controls.
- Do not use the device in bathrooms, locker rooms, or other unsupervised areas.
- Obtain teacher permission before recording, photographing, or sharing any media at school.
- Submit the device for inspection when requested by school staff.
School Responsibilities
- Provide the iPad and school-approved accessories.
- Maintain the device through school-managed settings, updates, filtering, and security tools.
- Provide instructional support and digital citizenship instruction.
- Offer loaner devices when available for temporary classroom use or repair situations.
- Communicate expectations for appropriate use to students and parents.
Parent Responsibilities
- Reinforce safe and responsible technology use at home.
- Ensure the device is brought to school charged and in good condition.
- Supervise off-campus use of the device as appropriate.
- Promptly notify the school of damage, loss, or technical concerns.
- Support school expectations regarding academic honesty, privacy, and respectful behavior.

Academic Honesty
Students must complete their own work and follow teacher directions regarding technology and artificial intelligence tools.
Privacy and Access
- Use only assigned accounts. Students must use only assigned TCS accounts and the school-managed network when on campus. Signing into personal Apple IDs, iCloud accounts, or personal cloud storage on the school-issued iPad is strictly prohibited. The school manages all app installations, updates, and settings via Jamf, and adding personal accounts interferes with our management controls.

- Do not access, store, or share private information about yourself or others.
- Do not attempt to access restricted websites, accounts, or network resources.
- Personal phones and smart devices are prohibited during school unless a staff member gives express permission.
Appropriate Use
- Use respectful language and behavior online.
- Do not engage in harassment, bullying, impersonation, or posting false or defamatory content.
- Report inappropriate content, unsafe behavior, or security concerns to TCS staff immediately.
Respect for School Property
- Do not damage, deface, modify, or interfere with the iPad or any school technology. Students are expected to care for the iPad, which means students may not apply stickers, decals, markers, or paint directly to the device. - Do not attempt to disable monitoring, filtering, or management features.
- Misuse may result in disciplinary action and financial responsibility for repair or replacement costs.
Supervision and Monitoring
School staff may monitor, inspect, or collect the iPad at any time for instructional, safety, maintenance, or disciplinary reasons. Students should understand that the device is school property and is subject to review and oversight at all times when issued for school use.
Policy violations may result in temporary or permanent removal of device privileges, disciplinary action, or other consequences outlined in the Parent Handbook.
