6th Grade DaySpring Retreat

6th Grade DaySpring Retreat
Amanda Chew

The 6th grade students recently enjoyed a memorable retreat at DaySpring, where they stepped outside the classroom to grow in community, challenge themselves, and deepen their faith. Through a combination of team-building activities, outdoor adventures, and meaningful worship, students experienced a time of both fun and personal growth.

The retreat began with an afternoon of facilitator-led challenges that encouraged communication, teamwork, and creative problem-solving. Students were pushed to think outside the box while supporting one another through each activity. Later, they enjoyed free time filled with swimming and games such as volleyball, basketball, and Gaga ball, giving them the chance to relax and connect with friends.

The evening centered on a meaningful worship service focused on community, reminding students of the importance of supporting and uplifting one another. The day concluded with an exciting game of glow-in-the-dark capture the flag, a highlight for many.

The next day brought new challenges as students worked together to complete both high and low ropes courses. These activities required courage, trust, and encouragement, as students stepped out of their comfort zones and cheered each other on. A favorite moment of the day was the zip line, which added both excitement and a sense of accomplishment. The evening ended with a classic campfire, where students enjoyed s’mores and time together.

On the final day, students gathered for a closing worship service that focused on carrying the lessons learned at DaySpring back to their everyday lives. They were encouraged to continue building strong community, supporting one another, and growing in their faith once they returned to TCS.

This retreat provided students with more than just a break from routine—it was an opportunity to build relationships, develop confidence, and grow spiritually. The experiences and lessons from DaySpring will stay with the students as they continue to grow, encouraging them to live out what they learned in their daily lives and relationships.
