Job Description

Position: Head Athletic Coach

Responsible to: Director of Athletics

A TCS Teacher/Staff Exhibits:

  • A deep faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and acceptance of the authority of Scriptures as a guide for faith and living
    • Actively pursues spiritual growth through personal devotions, Bible study, church involvement, etc.
  • Understand and actively support The Christ School's mission, vision, and defining characteristics
  • Proficiency in GoogleSuite (docs, sheets, gmail, calendar)
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to effectively traverse possibly uneven ground
  • Must be able to ascend/descend multiple flights of stairs and transport about 10-15 pounds

General Responsibilities:

  • Create a positive environment for student-athletes to learn and grow in the sport they are passionate about
  • Hosts tryouts and evaluations in order to select appropriate candidates for the upcoming sports season
  • Manages Equipment
  • Communicates effectively with parents, officials, and the Athletics Director
  • Hosts development clinics (1-2 per school year) for ages 5-14 to help the growth and culture of the sport at TCS

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in the sport they are coaching
  • Strong background and professional development  in their sport
  • Evidence and articulate a faith and relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior
  • Understand and actively support The Christ School's mission, vision, and defining characteristics 
  • Proficiency in Google Suite (docs, sheets, gmail, calendar), GameChanger
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to effectively traverse possibly uneven ground to manage students
  • Must be able to ascend/descend multiple flights of stairs and transport about 10-15 pounds
  • Must have reliable transportation

Physical Requirements:

  • Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
  • Physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to bend, to stoop, to sit on the floor, to climb stairs, to walk, and to reach overhead

Special Requirements 

  • Employment is conditional upon the successful completion of a background investigation.
  • First Aid and CPR certification within the first 90 days of employment. (Can be provided by employer)
  • Previous proven Head or Assistant Coaching involvement at the interscholastic or club level.
