Job Description

Position: Bus Monitor

Responsible to: Transportation Coordinator

A TCS Teacher/Staff Exhibits:

  • A deep faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and acceptance of the authority of Scriptures as a guide for faith and living
    • Actively pursues spiritual growth through personal devotions, Bible study, church involvement, etc.
  • Understand and actively support The Christ School mission, vision, and defining characteristics
  • Proficiency in GoogleSuite (docs, sheets, gmail, calendar)
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to effectively traverse possibly uneven ground
  • Must be able to ascend/descend multiple flights of stairs and transport about 10-15 pounds

General Responsibilities:

The Christ School is seeking a responsible and caring Bus Monitor for the upcoming 2025–2026 school year. The Bus Monitor will ride our daily transportation route between The Christ School (TCS) and Lake Nona, ensuring the safety and well-being of students while supporting a smooth and efficient travel experience.

The specific responsibilities include:

  • Riding the school bus each morning and afternoon on the designated TCS to Lake Nona route.
  • Supervising student behavior to ensure a safe and respectful environment during transit.
  • Assisting younger students with boarding, seating, and exiting the bus.
  • Communicating effectively with the bus driver, school personnel, and parents as needed.
  • Maintaining attendance logs and reporting concerns or incidents to school administration.
  • Enforcing bus safety rules and The Christ School’s standards of conduct.
  • Providing basic first aid in case of minor incidents (training provided, if needed).
  • Serving as a positive, supportive, and caring representative of The Christ School.

Morning Shift:

  • Arrive at the designated bus location by 6:30 AM
  • Ride to Lake Nona pickup location and return to TCS by 8:00 AM

Afternoon Shift:

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 3:15 PM – 4:45 PM
  • Wednesday (early dismissal): 2:30 PM – 4:00 PM

Required Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with children.
  • Patience, attentiveness, and a calm demeanor.
  • An ability to maintain authority while remaining kind and respectful.
  • Consistent attendance and punctuality are essential for this position.
  • A Commitment to the mission and values of The Christ School.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
  • Physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to bend, to stoop, to sit on the floor, to climb stairs, to walk, and to reach overhead

Special Requirements:

  • Employment is conditional upon the successful completion of a background investigation.
  • First Aid and CPR certification within the first 90 days of employment. (Can be provided by employer)
