Leading with Excellence: Celebrating Our Coach Wiborg Award Recipients

Leading with Excellence: Celebrating Our Coach Wiborg Award Recipients
Amanda Chew

At The Christ School, we believe true excellence goes beyond wins and achievements. It’s found in the way students lead, serve, encourage others, and reflect Christ in all they do. That spirit is exactly what the Coach Wiborg Award for Athletic and Academic Excellence was created to honor.

This award recognizes student-athletes who embody the very best of what it means to be a Lion through commitment to their sport, integrity in their actions, excellence in academics, and leadership rooted in Christlike character.

This year, we are proud to recognize two outstanding eighth graders: Alyssa Ferguson and Isaac Gibson.

Alyssa Ferguson

Alyssa with Roary the mascot

Alyssa has been a steady and faithful presence in the TCS athletic program throughout the year. Whether serving behind the scenes or competing on the court, she consistently leads with humility, dedication, and joy.

As a student assistant, Alyssa regularly went above and beyond in ways that often go unnoticed but make a lasting impact. She was also an important member of the championship volleyball team, contributing to a season marked by hard work, perseverance, and success.

Beyond her own athletic commitments, Alyssa generously gives her time to serve others. She frequently volunteers at home athletic events, helping everything run smoothly, and brought incredible energy and confidence while hosting this year’s Hoopscoming game.

One of the most meaningful ways Alyssa leads is through investing in younger students. By coaching elementary volleyball, she demonstrates patience, encouragement, and a genuine love for others, qualities that make her an incredible role model both on and off the court.

Isaac Gibson

Isaac playing basketball

Isaac has been a dedicated member of our basketball, flag football, and track programs and exemplifies what it means to lead through both action and attitude.

Dependable, hardworking, and team-oriented, Isaac is the kind of teammate every coach hopes for. He consistently puts others before himself and approaches every opportunity with humility and determination.

What stands out most about Isaac is his willingness to serve. This year, he volunteered his time to help coach an upcoming basketball clinic, pouring into younger athletes and using his leadership to encourage the next generation of Lions.

His commitment extends beyond athletics. Isaac is also an exceptional student who takes his academic responsibilities seriously and strives for excellence in all he does.

More Than Athletes

Both Alyssa and Isaac represent the heart of The Christ School athletic program. They are outstanding students, committed athletes, and most importantly, young leaders who reflect Christ in the way they compete, serve, and treat others.

Their character, leadership, and dedication make them incredibly deserving recipients of the Coach Wiborg Award for Athletic and Academic Excellence.

Congratulations, Alyssa and Isaac! Your TCS family is proud of you.
