Kindergarten Makes Their Mark on Dot Day!

Kindergarten celebrated International Dot Day, inspired by The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds. The story encourages children to embrace their creativity, believe in their abilities, and have the confidence to “make their mark.”

Throughout the day, dots became part of learning across the curriculum! Students began by watercoloring dots during morning work before incorporating them into math by representing numbers in ten frames. During reading, students enjoyed The Dot and worked with partners to sequence events from the story.

Students even brought dots into science with a colorful experiment! Using coffee filters and water, they investigated the different colors that combine to create brown and black.

From reading and math to science and art, Dot Day was a fun and creative way for our Kindergarten students to explore, experiment, and discover while celebrating the unique mark each of them can make.
